Virginia!

Back in the good V of irginia, there is a lot going on out here. First and foremost, our meetings went very well. I was actually complimented on all of the good work our team has done on the development of our software, and we’re 3 weeks ahead of schedule. how about that!

And in celebration, we went out and had a bit of fun. Or rather, I had a bit of fun. Three whiskey gingers, and several beers later i was in high spirits- three sheets to the wind, to be honest. That expression actually stems from the loose ropes that keep sails tied down. When the windd blew and the ropes were loose, they’d stagger all over and resemble a man who had too much to drink. Or more precisely, me!

It would have been bad, except i was very entertaining. Chatting up some other customers at the bar. One vixen was so entranced that she had to stop by at my table, full of coworkers, and talk to me. Needless to say, when she left, the rest of the table was just basically awestruck.

Awesome.

Pictures were taken of me, apparently in order to black mail me with my girlfriend. Unfortunately, i don’t have one of those- so it’s not going to happen. Although upon realization that i was single, my coworkers soon found out that i don’t believe in fate or the absence of freewill. that set off some interesting conversation.

Anyways, there is a lot more to talk about but only in person. It will be good stories, i promise, so ask me :-)

Virginia is for lovers, plateless lovers

Posted by Mike on Nov 08 2007 | Life of Mike

Five years I lived in downtown Los Angeles. My parents were worried when i decided to leave the peaceful albeit drugged out suburbs of Washington to go to college. So worried, they were, they gave me a going away gift: the club. as i pulled it from their nail-less fingers, I felt silly.

Despite numerous comments, i used that club. it was good to me. I always used the reasoning that my car was still there as evidence of the club’s mysterious effectiveness.

Not 6 months in Pasadena and my car is naked. it’s unmentionables are just… out there. and by unmentionables, I surely mean, how do you say, bumpers.

My plates, ladies and gentlemen, have been stolen.

Normally i would take this in stride, it takes a lot to get me down. I mean a lot. But this happened as i was going out to a party. Let me tell you, Newcastle brown tastes good, but not great, when you’re wondering what felony is being committed in your name. The DMV was of course closed on saturday, and as such i would need to wait in order to get new plates.

I suppose that “wait” for plates is a pun, considering I’m referencing the DMV, but I digress.

I had planned on driving myself to the airport on Monday for my trip to Virginia (is for lovers) . Without plates, however, one is not allowed to park long term. So, what can ya do? You call Primetime shuttle, spawn of all that is early and annoying.

Don’t get me wrong, I got to the airport on time, and isn’t that the point. But i always have some form of trouble with their service. This time, it is three fold. One, they picked me up at 3:30. 4am we arrive at LAX, and my flight leaves at 7:30. Awesome. Secondly, they charged me for two pickups, there and back, even though i had canceled the revenge trip. Lastly, and while I don’t blame primetime per se, is the man with a giant bandage around his head. not horizontally, but vertically. wrapped over his head, under his chin.

Almost comical. Almost.

I did end up at AAA today, and got my plates and new registration for just eighteen dollars. Something I feel was quite the steal (ok, no more puns).
